The Roberts Building

Commercial Property | Coral Gables, FL

The 1952 building in the Industrial Section of the Coral Gables was modernized from its original use as a construction office with materials storage and warehouse space to showrooms and ateliers. The original slump brick walls with high, shallow awning windows were replaced with storefront glass and brick knee walls in the 1980's.

The 2003 renovation replaced the façade with floor-to-ceiling impact-resistant storefront glass windows and doors. A glass curtain wall concealed a pair of original awning windows on the south side of the façade. When the former construction office with its channel slab mezzanine was vacated by tenants, the owners of the building completed interior demolition and structural rehab to allow for a full height space and opening of the walls behind the curtain wall.
